IAM RoadSmart to host webinar with Mental Health Motorbike

PRESS RELEASE, 26 January 2024

IAM RoadSmart to host webinar with Mental Health Motorbike

  • Mental Health Motorbike will be the first partner to work with IAM RoadSmart,
  • New online sessions commencing January 2024 will be complimentary for members

The UK’s leading road safety charity IAM RoadSmart has launched its complimentary webinar platform for members which will focus on key areas around driving, rider well-being and policy.

The first webinar, which takes place on Tuesday 30th January at 6:30pm is in partnership with Mental Health Motorbike, a leading charity that exists to create meaningful opportunities to grow the greater wellbeing within the motorcycle community. The session will introduce participants to mental health first aid and give advice on how to support loved ones or colleagues who might be struggling with mental health while exploring some ways to manage your own ‘stress container’ through the 5 ways to wellbeing.

IAM RoadSmart has thousands of rider members, many of whom face daily challenges on the roads that can often worsen stress levels. Despite making up just 3.5% of all licenced vehicle types, riders account for a fifth (21%) of all fatalities and 13% of all casualties*.

IAM RoadSmart Head of Membership Operations and Engagement Karolina Brzeska said:

“Webinars are a great new addition to our member benefits package, further supporting our 3-year plan and move to being digital to the core.

We will be coordinating a range of webinars that bring new knowledge and skills to the community, working with several partners and specialist automotive experts - all helping to improve experiences on road and giving members additional value from their membership with us.

Paul Oxborough of Mental Health Motorbike said:

"Our team is really looking forward to this webinar, talking about our work and hopefully giving some useful pointers. Poor mental health can affect us all at different stages of our lives and having quality support can make a huge difference. Let's come together to help break the stigma and encourage more open discussions about this topic. We can then start to address suicide which still is the single biggest killer of men in the UK."

Further webinars will be part of the IAM RoadSmart members calendar throughout 2024. This new service for members is a milestone in IAM RoadSmart’s quest to be digital to the core and will provide a platform for members to engage with dedicated experts on many important issues.
