IAM RoadSmart issues warning for strong winds from Storm Ashley

In line with a Met Office amber warning for strong winds in Northern Ireland and Western Scotland, IAM RoadSmart has issued a travel warning:

IAM RoadSmart Director of Policy and Standards Nicholas Lyes said: "Storm Ashley is the first named storm of the season and driving in exposed areas will be extremely difficult with the Met Office forecasting wind gusts of 70-80mph. People living in areas where amber warnings have been issued should consider whether their journey is necessary, however anyone needing to head out on the roads should expect changes to steering and possible debris on the road creating very tricky conditions. Heavy rain will also reduce grip and create a lot of spray."
